The Methodist Church on Newtownards Road, known as East Belfast Mission, is a group of people, from all walks of life, who are drawn together by God's love, who seek to live wholeheartedly as followers of Jesus, for the transformation of our community, and to reach out to the world.
The Methodist witness on the Newtownards Road has been for the whole person. We want to encourage a curiosity about the claims of Jesus. We take seriously Jesus's words about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the stranger and the prisoner and helping with the sick. We do what we do because we love Jesus.
In East Belfast Mission we hope you find a place of warm Christian welcome.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
– Matthew 11:28-30, The Message.

East Belfast Mission is part of the Methodist Church in Ireland. Each church belongs to a circuit – a group of Methodist churches in a certain area.
In 2022 the 5 circuits in East Belfast came together to form the new Belfast East Circuit. It includes the churches at Sydenham, Brainel, Dundonald, Knock, Cregagh, Glenburn, Mountpottinger, Bloomfield and EBM.
The benefit of the new, larger circuit includes closer links in such areas as ministerial and lay workers support, collective discipleship and prayer and less administration.
Mission and outreach must always be centred in the locality the church, so we seek to encourage each other. Rev Brian is the current Circuit Superintendent.
