Belfast Works Connect participants should complete one of the three OCN (Open College Network) accredited courses on offer (i.e. Well-Being, Personal Development or Employment).
Your Connect Navigator will help identify the best course for you.. Participants can choose to attend ANY of the available workshop on offer, irrespective of which OCN course is selected.
By completing any of these courses, you will then be able to move on to further 'external' accredited training courses with Belfast Works Connect...
The Well-Being course introduces the basic themes around mental health, emotional well-being, and resilience. Completion of this course offer’s you an opportunity to better understand yourself and how these aspects interconnect and influence one another to enhance or inhibit your overall wellbeing. You will explore the key factors that affect mental health and emotional well-being, alongside how emotions play a vital role in overall well-being. The course also covers practical strategies to improve personal resilience and mental health, focusing on approaches for enhancing well-being in everyday life. Additionally, you will gain awareness of the various sources of professional support and advice available for mental health and emotional well-being. Through this course, you will acquire the tools to understand, manage, and improve your mental and emotional health, fostering resilience in the face of life's challenges.

The Personal Development course provides you with practical methods to analyse stressors and how to manage them.
We discuss the different types of criticism we come into contact with, both external and internal, as well as how to deal with these types of conflicts.
In the final session we look at areas of our life such as physical health, finances and leisure time and set goals for improvement. You will leave feeling confident and empowered to move forward in their goals!

The Employment course has been designed to provide learners with a range of employability skills that are key to preparing them for the workplace.
The objective of the qualification is to assist learners in acquiring skills, attributes and behaviours that are needed to enter and succeed in the world of work.
It also provides learners with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in the areas most relevant to them, that are everyday occurrences in the workplace. e.g. know how to build effective ‘Workplace Relationships’ and deal with different behaviours and difficult situations. The course will also looks at ‘Workplace Motivation and Behaviour’ and ways to enable the learner to understand workplace motivation and the importance of punctuality, reliability and time management in the workplace.
