East Belfast Mission Good Finance Case Study

For over 20 years, Hosford, EBM’s homelessness support service in East Belfast, has provided essential aid to those at risk. To address the housing crisis, EBM, with Commonweal Housing, launched the You’re Home pilot project, securing social investment to purchase five properties as affordable housing. This project not only offers homes to those transitioning out of hostels but also creates critical hostel space for high need cases. Subsidised tenancies and support services further help tenants with budgeting, job searches, and life skills.

Beyond You’re Home, EBM’s Hosford Community Homes leads broader projects aimed at sustainable housing solutions for excluded groups. These include the newly funded “240 Project” to turn unused offices into apartments, a community centre, and “DAS,” a house for destitute asylum seekers. EBM also has upcoming projects focused on creating housing for vulnerable women and other at risk groups, further advocating for capacity building in Northern Ireland’s housing sector.
